The position are located in Southeast Archeological Center.
These are Term positions not to exceed 13 months, with a possible extensions up to a total of 4 years. Appointment to these positions will not convey permanent status in the Federal service.

Duties
Participates in basic archeological field surveys by walking over the landscape and searching for archeological features and artifacts.
Conducts limited supervised excavation and testing of sites, including the careful recovery of sample materials.
Processes specimens recovered in the field. Prepares specimens to be sent to dating laboratories.
Performs data entry related to archeological artifact and project data (e.g., artifact information, catalog records, field notes, site records, etc.) into automated systems, appropriate forms, and archival records.
Retrieves and compiles data as required for resource management reports, interpretive exhibits, etc.
Qualifications
In order to qualify for Archeological Technician, GS-0102-05 grade level, you must possess one of the following minimum qualifications by close of the announcement:
You mustpossess one year of specialized experience which was equivalent to at least GS-4 level in federal service. Specialized experience is experience that equipped the applicant with general knowledge, skills, and abilities needed to successfully perform the duties of the position and that is typically in or related to the work of the position. Examples of specialized experience include, but are not limited to, the following: participating in cultural resource inventory surveys, archeological field surveys; archeological excavation projects; prehistoric architectural assessments and documentation projects, laboratory analysis of artifacts, and preparation of technical cultural resource reports.
OR/
Have successfully completed a 4-year course of study above high school leading to a bachelor's degree with courses in anthropology, archeology, or related fields.
OR/
Have a combination of education and experiencedescribed above that meets 100% of the requirements for this position.

You must include months, years and hours per week worked to receive credit for your work and/or volunteer experience. One year of specialized experience is equivalent to 12 months at 40 hours per week. Part-time hours are prorated. You will not receive any credit for experience that does not indicate exact hours per week or is listed as "varies".

To qualify based on education, you must submit a legible copy of transcripts from an
accredited institution with your name, school name, credit hours, course level, major(s), and grade-point average or class ranking. Transcripts do not need to be official, but if you are selected for this position and you used your education to qualify, you must provide official transcripts before you begin work.

education completed in foreign colleges or universities to meet qualification requirements, you must show that your education credentials have been evaluated by a private organization that specializes in interpretation of foreign education programs and such education has been deemed equivalent to that gained in an accredited U.S. education program; or full credit has been given for the courses at a U.S. accredited college or university.
