THESE ARE NATIONAL GUARD TITLE 32 EXCEPTED SERVICE POSITIONS. These National Guard positions are for TWO GS-2210-09 IT SPECIALIST (SYSTEMS ADMINISTRATION) (TITLE 32), Position Description Number D2560000 in SPMD 4740 and are part of the MO TASMG Shop. APPOINTMENT FACTORS: These are Permanent Excepted Service positions. These are non-bargaining positions.

Duties

Modifies, tests and implements system backup and recovery strategies for assigned system. Serves as a systems administrator for the less complex systems involving a limited number of servers operating on a single operating system. Responsible for implementing and troubleshooting system performance. Assists other system administrators in troubleshooting problems and implementing changes on the more complex systems. Diagnoses system failures to isolate source of problems between equipment, system software, and application programs. Modifies code, devises temporary fixes, documents problems and advises higher-level System Administrator or other outside party. Interacts with peers and vendors to resolve hardware and software problems. Provides technical assistance to personnel involved in system design, programming, hardware selection and adapting commercially available software to meet the needs of the customer. Participates in the analysis of requests for new or modified applications. Assists in analyzing and evaluating proposed changes to multiple computer systems. Assists in determining equipment demands, number and kinds of records, files, communications and procedures necessary to obtain, organize information and interfaces with other systems. Provides systems support on personal computer, mini-computers or main frames. Manages the flow of data between various tiers of the architecture. Writes program scripts to facilitate backup and recovery procedures. Assists in security management to ensure only authorized (personnel) access computer systems. implements state policy relating to systems storage requirements. Assists with the modification of storage structures. Modifies system parameters on assigned system. Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

MILITARY REQUIREMENTS:Compatible military grade and assignment required prior to the effective date of placement. This is an Excepted Service position that requires membership in a compatible military assignment in the employing state's National Guard. Applicants who are not currently a member of the National Guard must be eligible for immediate membership. Selected candidate will be required to be in a compatible military assignment prior to effective date of placement. Selected candidate must be MOS qualified within 12 months from date of appointment. Officer - Branch 25 or 53 Warrant Officer - MOS 254A, 255A, 255N or 255S Enlisted - CMF 25 Supervisor must verify that selected individual occupies a compatible military position. Title 32 National Guard employees will not be militarily senior to their full-time supervisor or wage leader (grade inversion). GENERAL EXPERIENCE: Must possess experience that provided you basic knowledge of data processing functions and general management principles that enable you to understand the stages required to automate a work process; experience in work such as computer operator or assistant, computer sales representative, program analyst, or other positions that required the use or adaptation of computer programs and systems. GS-09 SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Must possess 24 months specialized computer experience in troubleshooting server hardware/software; implementing systems back-ups and restoring down servers; optimizing system configurations; and implementing and monitoring system security features. The specialized experience must demonstrate knowledge of how the hardware, software and network infrastructure relates to the serviced systems along with an understanding of how they integrate together sufficient to analyze problems reported and to distinguish among hardware, software, network and user-related problems. DOD Information Awareness Certification Requirements: The employee must obtain and maintain at a minimum a Secret security clearance. Incumbent must possess or be able to obtain and maintain certifications per DoD Directive 8570.1-M, AR 25-2, and as detailed in the Information Assurance (IA) Training and Certification Best Business Practice (BBP). Failure to satisfactorily obtain and maintain required certifications in accordance with the listed publications are grounds for termination. Selectee is required to satisfactorily complete the appropriate training and obtain the required certification/recertification for this position as outlined in DoD Publication 8570.01-M, Information Assurance Workforce Improvement Program, dated 19 December 2005 (incorporating Change 1 dated 15 May 2008).

Education

Substitution of Education for Specialized Experience at the GS-09 grade level: Must possess a masters or equivalent graduate degree or two full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree.
