The U.S. Army Combat Capabilities Development Command (DEVCOM) Armaments Center (AC) serves as the Army's technology leader for armament systems. DEVCOM AC ensures dominance of Army capabilities by researching, developing, integrating and delivering technology-enabled armament solutions to our Warfighters. Armaments Center has a long tradition as the primary research and development center for new and existing armament systems which are in use by U.S. service members around the world. ?

Duties

Direct accomplishment of highly complex mission-critical armament programs with significant impact on national defense capability to further organizational mission. Track progress of organizational performance to justify significant changes in staffing, equipment/facilities, and processes. Supervise and maintain a group of well trained specialty areas (Direct Fire Cannon, Tube/Breech Design SMEs, Electromechanical design, Cannon Controls) at various stages of their careers. Align senior subject matter experts mentors with early- and mid-career analysts to maintain competencies required for the directorate to meet its mission. Lead a team to meet customer deliverables both internal and external to the directorate. Organize work, sets priorities, and determines resource requirements; determines short- or long-term goals and strategies to achieve them. Coordinate with other organizations or parts of the organization to accomplish goals; monitors progress and evaluates outcomes.

• Selectee must execute, as condition of appointment, a written agreement to remain in Federal service in the position for at least three years.

• Two-year supervisory trial/probationary period may be required.
• Three-year trial/probationary period may be required.

• CAP Qualifications. Individuals occupying CAPs must meet the following minimum qualifications or have an approved waiver signed by the DACM before the final job offer is made:
• a. Have four years of acquisition experience.
• b. Be DAWIA certified at the highest level for the Functional Area of the position, within their specified grace period, with the exception of Program Management (PM). The minimum CAP qualification for the PM Functional Area is Practitioner level.
• c. As a condition of employment, execute a three-year tenure agreement.

Combination of education and experience -- college-level education, training, and/or technical experience that furnished (1) a thorough knowledge of the physical and mathematical sciences underlying engineering, and (2) a good understanding, both theoretical and practical, of the engineering sciences and techniques and their applications to one of the branches of engineering. The adequacy of such background must be demonstrated by one of the following: 1. Professional registration or licensure -- Current registration as an Engineer Intern (EI), Engineer in Training (EIT)1, or licensure as a Professional Engineer (PE) by any State, the District of Columbia, Guam, or Puerto Rico. Absent other means of qualifying under this standard, those applicants who achieved such registration by means other than written test (e.g., State grandfather or eminence provisions) are eligible only for positions that are within or closely related to the specialty field of their registration.
