This position is located in the National Institute of Diabetes and Digestive and Kidney Diseases (NIDDK), Division of Extramural Activities (DEA), Grants Management Branch (GMB).
This Supervisory Grants Management Specialist position serves as Deputy Grants Management Officer and fully shares with the Chief the direction of all phases of the organization's program and work.
Duties
Works closely with the Chief Grants Management Officer to provide effective leadership in the planning and direction of the Grants Management Branch, including day-to-day management of all activities.
Assists in directing, coordinating, and administering the business management activities associated with NIDDK grant and cooperative agreement programs.
Represents the Grants Management Branch and serves as a resource on matters involving the administrative management of the NIDDK grant portfolio.
Assists the Grants Management Branch and serve as a resource regarding IT Technical expertise.
Provides policy development and internal analysis support to a variety of internal NIDDK staff, as well as to external staff at NIH.
Works with technical and administrative staff engaged in various aspects of planning, reviewing, designing, analyzing, evaluating, developing performing, monitoring, improving, managing, and advising on NIDDK grants and cooperative agreement systems.
Audit internal control systems to help ensure appropriate business management oversight associated with the review, negotiation, award, and management of grants and that grant-related work is accurate, efficient, and timely.
Provides general oversight to the professional and technical staff of GMB and direct supervision of the Extramural Support Assistants in the conduct of the full range of grants management services and functions.
Qualifications
You qualify at the GS-14 level, if you meet one of the following qualification requirements:
You must demonstrate in your resume at least one (1) year of qualifying experience equivalent to at least the GS-13 level in the Federal service obtained in either the private or public sector, performing the following types of tasks: Collaborating, cooperating and managing a portfolio of grant awards on a daily basis regarding reviewing fundable grant applications, interpreting grant regulations and laws and grant procedures; Participating in Grants Management committees in order to gain knowledge and professional development as a grants management specialist; Responding to inquiries from agency staff, organization staff and recipient staff in a timely and an appropriate manner; and Assisting and collaborating in the development and reviewing of standards of operations for compliance with g rant regulations and laws.
