This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Certain Personnel Within the DOD Workforce to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service. About the Position: Fort Eustis is located in Newport News, between historic Williamsburg and Virginia Beach. Transportation includes convenient interstate and major highways connecting the city to neighboring Hampton, York County, Gloucester, Norfolk, Portsmouth, Suffolk, and Smithfield.

Duties

Acts as the primary investigator for Holistic Health and Fitness data, analyzes a variety of data sources to provide data-driven insights. Provides quick reaction analytic capability for Holistic Health and Fitness and the Research Directorate. Serves as project Manager to in directing and conducting special ad hoc studies and analyses related to Holistic Health and Fitness matters. Applies advanced operations research and data analysis techniques to solve complex problems in H2F planning, programming, designing, implementation and testing of concepts, strategies or systems used to develop, manage, and support training.

Requirements

• This position requires the incumbent obtain and maintain a SECRET clearance for the duration of their employment.
• This position requires TDY of up to 25%.

Basic Requirement: Degree: Bachelor's degree (or higher degree) in operations research; or a degree with at least 24 semester hours in a combination of operations research, mathematics, probability, statistics, mathematical logic, science, or subject-matter courses requiring substantial competence in college-level mathematics or statistics. At least 3 of the 24 semester hours must have been in calculus. In addition to meeting the basic requirement above, to qualify for this position you must also meet the qualification requirements listed below: Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes 1) implementing a variety of analytical methodologies while researching broad studies of an unprecedented nature; 2) utilizing research techniques to obtain information concerning subject studies to be able to perform sound analyses; 3) applying a full range of cost analyses techniques to perform tasks with complex variables; 4) experience in the management of sophisticated electronic database analysis. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-12).
