This position is located in Air Traffic Organization, Western Service Area, Technical Operations, ATC Facilities, Engineering Services (AJW-2W), NAV/AIDS Construction/Installation Center, AJW-2W14F.The incumbent performs highly specialized technical work associated with analyzing, designing, developing, installing, repairing, fabricating, maintaining, modifying, or evaluating the most complex systems for which FAA is responsible.

Duties

Plans, coordinates, and performs work with a high degree of independence keeping the manager informed of significant problem areas. Demonstrates comprehensive knowledge of the NAS as an integrated system in order to deal with unusual problems or unanticipated issues. Independently evaluates the functional status of systems and facilities.

Requirements

  • US Citizenship is required.
  • Selective Service Registration is required for males born after 12/31/1959.
  • A recent SF-50 is required (See Required Documents for requirements)
  • Travel up to 90% may be required.

Qualifications

To qualify for this position at the FV-G (FG/GS-10-11) level, you must demonstrate in your application that you possess at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to FV-F, FG/GS 4-9 in the Federal Service. Specialized experience is experience that has equipped you with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position.Specialized experience includes: Experience with installation, maintenance, and modification of electronics and environmental equipment. Equipment may include but is not limited to equipment related to radar systems, navigational aid equipment such as lighted and distance measuring equipment, communication systems such as radio/microwave communications.To qualify for this position at the FV-H (FG/GS-12) level, you must demonstrate in your application that you possess at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to FV-G, FG/GS 10/11 in the Federal Service. Specialized experience is experience that has equipped you with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position.Specialized experience includes: Work as an electronics installation technician demonstrating a theoretical and practical knowledge of electronic principles, and of the characteristics, function, operation and capabilities of a variety of types of electronic equipment. Work includes but is not limited to installation, inspection, troubleshooting and repair of systems and system components such as computers, navigation and communications equipment, and electronic data communications equipment.
