About the Position: The Anniston Army Depot is located in Anniston, Alabama in the foothills of the Appalachian Mountain chain half way between Atlanta, GA and Birmingham, Alabama just off interstate 20. The depot is the largest employer in Calhoun County with approximately 4000 employees.

Duties

Serves as Deputy Director of Emergency Services at Anniston Army Depot. Develops performance plans, evaluates work performance and counsels staff as appropriate. Assign work based on relative priorities, in consideration of difficulty, requirements of assignments and capabilities of employees Oversees planning, managing, directing and evaluating law enforcement operations. Serves as the program manager for the Depot anti-terrorism program. Develops and manages funding for accomplishment of missions to include special training of personnel and acquisition of equipment required to ensure security of the installation. Manages the current year budgets and forecasts resources through the schedule 75 for law enforcement, fire, security, anti terrorism, physical security, law enforcement and fire prevention plans and operations, in the out-years.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Top Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment. A pre-employment and recurring comprehensive background investigation are required.
  • Must meet the criteria for compliance with Federal and Department of the Army Drug Free Workplace Programs. A pre-employment screening, and random testing thereafter, to include testing based on reasonable suspicion .
  • This is a Temporary position intended to last 1 year. A temporary position may be extended to a maximum of five years and may be terminated at any time during the duration of the appointment,
  • A one year probation to assess your ability to perform supervisory duties is required unless previously completed.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes Providing Emergency Services to a large complex multi-mission installation, tenants and contractors, overseeing the overall planning, managing, directing and evaluating law enforcement operations including police services, vehicle and weapons registration, military police investigations, traffic, special reaction team, visitor control center, coordination with police intelligence, Emergency Management, and fire departments. Manage fiscal year budgets and forecasts resources for law enforcement, fire, security, anti-terrorism, physical security, law enforcement and fire prevention plans and operations. Initiates and directs surveys, inspections, and studies to analyze and improve crime and fire prevention programs. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-12). You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: Administration and ManagementHuman Capital ManagementPlanning and EvaluatingPublic Safety and Security Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-12).
