This position is assigned to the Patrol Craft, Tenders, and Boats (PCTB) Division Boats Team at the Surface Acquisitions Logistics Center (SALC), Baltimore, MD.

Duties

Patrol Craft, Tenders, and Boats Division has three primary functions:  (1) support the Acquisition Directorate Surface Program in the delivery of logistics capabilities and requirements to include all elements of product support; (2) support the acquisition Program Managers (PMs) with the design, test, production, configuration, maintenance, and supply activities necessary to develop, prove, operate and maintain Surface Capability that achieves required Operational Availability within cost objectives; and (3) ensure each Asset acquired, applies standard systems engineering and integrated logistics processes governing life cycle support. The incumbent performs work involved in developing and implementing an integrated logistics support program for Surface Acquisitions. Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret clearance.

Qualifications

Applicants at the GS-12 level must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-11 level in the federal service. Applicants at the GS-13 level must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-12 level in the federal service. Examples of specialized experience includes work that required: a knowledge of advanced concepts, principles, and practices in the supply support field of logistics management; a wide range of qualitative and/or quantitative methods for assessment and improvements of logistics program effectiveness or the improvements of complex logistics management processes and systems; a knowledge of the range of administrative laws, policies, regulations and precedents applicable to the administration of one or more important logistics management operations; a knowledge of agency program goals and objectives, the sequence and timing of key program events and milestones, and methods of evaluating the work of program accomplishments; and/or skill in planning, organizing and conducting team study work and to negotiate effectively with management to accept and implement recommendations. Experience with shipboard (HM&E or electronics) maintenance or life cycle support. Experience in and knowledge of Major System Acquisition practices, preferably in the domain of ship design, construction, and transition to sustainment. Specialized experience is experience that has equipped you with the particular ability, skill, and knowledge to successfully perform the duties of the position. National Service Experience (i.e., volunteer experience): Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.The Office of Personnel management (OPM) must authorize employment offers made to current or former political appointees.  If you are currently, or have been within the last 5 years, a political Schedule A, Schedule, C, Non-career SES or Presidential Appointee employee in the Executive Branch, you must disclose this information to the Human Resources Office.
