This position is located in the Northern Region, Region 1, Kootenai National Forest with a Duty Location of Libby, MT. This position is located on a National Forest and has responsibility for planning, managing, coordinating, reviewing, and reporting for several natural resources. Duties

Serves as a key member of the Forest Management Team to formulate plans, policies, and objectives for the Forest. Direct activities to ensure resource plans and requirement goals are accomplished. Review long and short-range plans to ensure consistency with strategies and program emphasis of approved land and resource management plan and recommend changes as appropriate. Coordinate resource management planning activities with public officials, industry representatives, and citizen groups to ensure plans are consistent with multiple use resource objectives. Prepare program management, planning, budgeting and management information to identify work force and organizational needs and priorities. Inform management of implementation and execution of land and resource management plans for assigned programs and recommend amendments as needed. Perform supervisory duties 25% or more of the time.

Qualifications

In order to qualify, you must meet the eligibility and qualifications requirements as defined below by the closing date of the announcement. Basic Requirement: GS-0401: Degree: Successful completion of a full 4-year course of study in an accredited college or university leading to a bachelor's or higher degree that included a major field of study in biological sciences, agriculture, natural resource management, chemistry, or related disciplines appropriate to the position. OR Successful completion of a full 4-year course of study in an accredited college or university leading to a bachelor's or higher degree in a major field of study that included 24 semester hours in course work in biological sciences, agriculture, natural resource management, chemistry, or related disciplines appropriate to the position. Related course work generally refers to courses that may be accepted as part of the program major. OR Combination of education and experience that included 24 semester hours in course work in biological sciences, agriculture, natural resource management, chemistry, or related disciplines appropriate to the position, AND experience sufficient to demonstrate that I possess the knowledge, skills, and abilities required to perform work in the occupation that is comparable to that normally acquired through the successful completion of a full 4-year course of study with a major in the appropriate field needed to perform the work of the occupation. In addition to meeting the basic requirement, you must also possess experience and/or directly related education in the amounts listed below. Specialized Experience Requirement: For the GS-13: You must have one year specialized experience equivalent to the GS-12 in the Federal service. Specialized experience is defined as performing 3 or more of the following duties: Coordinated and integrated natural resource programs and projects to meet organizational goals and multiple use resource objectives; Prepared and/or assessed short-range and long-range functional resource and fiscal plans to ensure compliance with land management policies and regulations and consistency with strategies and program emphasis; Participated in land management practices affecting the ecological, social and economic situation of a National Forest and its stakeholders; Identified work force and organizational needs, acquiring resources to complete organizational objectives; Coordinated closely with other Forests and agencies to meet cross boundary objectives and/or Demonstrated ability in sharing leadership to meet common goals and objectives. Work Experience: Your resume must clearly document the following for each block of work experience; the beginning day, month and year the work assignment started and ended; the hours worked per week; position title, and series and grade if applicable; and description of duties performed.
