You will serve as a INDUSTRIAL EQUIPMENT MECHANIC in the PUBLIC WORKS DEPARTMENT, PRODUCTION DIVISION of NAVFAC SOUTHWEST.

Duties

You will perform duties at the Journeyman level in alignment, installation, overhaul, repair, maintenance, alteration and fabrication on all types of mechanical equipment. You will work with various systems to include: hot water, fresh water, hydraulic, high and low pressure air, pneumatic, sewage disposal and steam systems. You will improvise replacement, assembly, repair, and troubleshooting techniques for industrial equipment when standard procedures do not apply. You will follow established safety rules and regulations applicable to industrial equipment repair to maintain safety when completing assigned work. You will set clearances, turn and scrape bearings, level and align equipment. You will work on cranes, hoists, towers and range testing equipment. You will read blueprints, maintenance and parts manuals and understand and use shop mathematics.

  • You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.
