Duties

You will maintain, inspect, repair and operate all galley equipment. You will perform all recurring type scheduled maintenance, emergency repairs and provide the maintenance foreman with equipment status for further corrective repairs as needed. You will perform work that includes maintaining, installing and repairing a wide variety of food handling and refrigeration equipment from less than 1/8 hp and up to 100 ton air-conditioning units. You will perform a variety of preventative maintenance and servicing operations.

  • You will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
  • You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.
  • You will be required to maintain your current Universal EPA refrigerant certification.

Qualifications

This position has a Selective Placement Factor that will be used to screen out ineligible candidates. Physical Demands:Periodic work in high places such as towers and cranes. Work is often performed in inclement weather and in cramped spaces. Must be able to lift and carry 50 pounds (assistance of others and/ or mechanical aids are used for weights above 50 pounds). Hazards:Exposure to eye hazards, inclement weather and falling objects. Subject to muscle and back strain from improper lifting and pulling. Work requires pushing, pulling, kneeling, crouching, stooping, crawling, climbing ladders and standing for moderate periods of time. Normal or corrected eyesight and hearing are required. Working Conditions:Work assignments require individual to work indoors and outdoors. Occasionally, will be required to work in temperatures from below freezing to extreme heat and in areas of smoke, dust, dirt, and noise. Periodically works in high wind conditions. Works around machinery with moving parts. Exposure to electrical shock, sharp edges and toxic fumes. Injuries may include cuts, burns, shocks, bruises, foreign bodies in eyes etc.
