Duties

Review records for correct format, serviceability, and completeness. Responsible for creating bar code labels for records and charge-out cards by using the Composite Health Care System (CHCS) or appropriate Electronic Health Record (EHR) system of use. File all paperwork pertinent to the patient's medical care into the medical records by chronological order. Interview and in-processes new patients, obtaining necessary identifying data for preparation of medical record and prepares required contents. Out-process personnel by checking their ID card, reviewing a copy of their orders, completing transfer forms, and/or record request forms as appropriate.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes: verifying patients records for completeness; using medical automated systems to update and correct patient records; training medical staff on medical records procedures and policies; applying knowledge of medical terminology; responding to staff in person or through messaging instruction on how to correct entries in the health record. This definition of general experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-04). OR Education: Four years of education above the high school level obtained in an accredited business, secretarial or technical school, junior college, college or university. OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. Add the two percentages.
