You will serve as a SECURITY SPECIALIST in the Intelligence and Security Directorate of DEPUTY UNDER SECRETARY OF THE NAVY.

Duties

You will coordinate the objectives of two or more Personnel Vetting program efforts, serves on interagency or inter-organization groups to identity and assign responsibilities for resolving Personnel Vetting related issues. You will respond to problems involving implementation of security guidelines at lower levels and conducts oversight efforts to facilitate program adequacy, efficiency, and identifying need for improvement. You will inform, provide technical advice, and facilitate training related to vetting for DON security personnel and the DON Insider Threat Hub. You will present presentations on vetting matters at meetings, training sessions, and conferences. You will coordinate with various groups to include project managers, data scientists, liaisons, action officers, and security management personnel.

  • Generally, current federal employees applying for GS jobs must serve at least one year at the next lower grade level. This requirement is called time-in-grade. Time-in-grade requirements must be met by the closing date of this announcement.
  • Within the Department of Defense (DoD), the appointment of retired military members within 180 days immediately following retirement date to a civilian position is subject to the provisions of 5 United States Code 3326.
  • Males born after 12-31-59 must be registered for Selective Service.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test (including marijuana) is required. A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if you fail to report to the drug test appointment or fail the test. You will be subject to random testing.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
  • This position has been designated a DoD Security Professional Educational Development (SPeD) position.
  • The DoD Security Fundamental Professional Certification (SFPC) certification is required within 24 months of assuming the position and must be maintained through the length of appointment.

Qualifications

GS-13 Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-12 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: applying laws, executive orders, and regulations governing security programs. Experience implementing security related programs. Experience with multiple programs to align with strategic plans and objectives and communicate them clearly orally and in writing. GS-12 Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-12 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Experience with laws, policies and regulations relating to personnel vetting and the Personnel Reliability Program (PRP).
