About the Position: This position is located in Air Force Academy, Colorado. This is a Direct Hire Solicitation

Duties

Process and review medical examinations, tests, and evaluations for determination of qualification for all Department of Defense (DoD) officer accessions. Responsible for analysis, interpretation and application of medical standards for all officer accessions. Conduct comprehensive analysis of medical documentation processed for the purpose of determining qualification, disqualification and/or medical waiver requirements. Request additional medical consultations/evaluations, tests, and other medical information, when necessary, to construct a complete picture of the applicant's clinical situation as it pertains to DoD medical standards. Communicate with applicants, appropriate health care professional, medical support staff, medical waiver authority service academy, or ROTC detachment to explain processes, medical determinations and rationale.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Basic Requirements Health Technician GS-0640-06/07/08: Specialized Experience GS-06: One year of specialized experience which includes, utilizing an automated medical computer system to perform assigned tasks; communicating with healthcare professional regarding policies/processes; and assisting in compiling medical information to construct a complete medical history. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-05). Specialized Experience GS-07: One year of specialized experience which includes, assisting in conducting an analysis of medical documentation to determine qualification, disqualification, and/or medical waiver requirements; compiling medical information to construct a complete medical history; and reviewing medical examinations, tests, and evaluations to determine qualifications. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-06). Specialized Experience GS-08: One year of specialized experience which includes, communicating with applicants, health care professionals, and medical support staff explaining processes and medical determinations, analyzing and interpreting medical standards for all officer accessions; and processing medical examinations, tests, and evaluations to determine qualifications. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-07). Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted.
