The Pathways Internship Program targets students accepted for enrollment or currently enrolled in a degree-seeking program in a accredited educational institution, on at least a half-time basis. At the successful conclusion of this program, you may be eligible for non-competitive conversion to a Federal career or career-conditional position. The Staff Acquisition Group provides a wide range of technical and consultative services related to Federal hiring and placement.

Duties

With guidance from senior HR Specialists, you will perform the following: Use USA Staffing, a Talent Acquisition System, to perform HR activities (e.g., review applications for qualifications). Draft information for use in announcements on USAJOBS. Extend job offers, perform pre-onboarding and onboarding activities, set hire start dates and coordinate with other Federal agencies on transfer of current federal employees, and answer agency and selectee questions through the process. Respond to routine questions from applicants and other inquires about basic aspects of the hiring process, which could include the status of the application and explaining results. Monitor work ensuring it complies with the terms, conditions, and standards for set forth in the project plan and timelines Assist in preparing reports and briefings regarding project status. Coordinate onsite and virtual training/workshops in one or more technical areas related to Federal HR.

Applicants must demonstrate that they meet the Minimum Qualifications and Pathways Intern Eligibility requirements as noted below. For the GS-05 Grade Level: Applicants must have 3 years of general experience, 1 year of which must include: Responding to customer questions via email and telephone; Handling administrative and clerical processes; AND Using a computer programs to produce documents, reports, and presentations. [The one year of experience must be comparable in scope and responsibility to the GS-04 level in the Federal service (obtained in either the public or private sectors).] OR Have Completed 4 academic years of post-high school leading to a bachelor's degree or equivalent degree. OR Have a combination of general experience and undergraduate level education as described above that when combined totals 100% of the requirement. For the GS-07 Grade Level: Applicants must have one year of specialized experience performing the following activities: Researching HR laws or regulations; Drafting responses to routine HR inquiries; AND Using computer programs to produce documents, reports, and presentations. [The one year of experience must be comparable in scope and responsibility to the GS-05 level in the Federal service (obtained in either the public or private sectors).] OR Completed one (1) full academic year of graduate level education; OR Have a Bachelor's degree and qualifies for superior academic achievement. OR Have a combination of specialized experience and graduate level education as described above that when combined totals 100% of the requirement. To meet the Intern Eligibility requirements, you must be a student accepted for enrollment or enrolled and seeking a degree (diploma, certificate, etc) in a qualifying educational institution, on a full or half-time basis (as defined by the institution in which the student is enrolled). Certificate programs must be at least one-year duration of full-time academic study. All Education must be accredited by an accredited institution recognized by the U.S. Department of Education in order for it to be credited towards qualifications (particularly positions with a positive education requirement.) Therefore, applicants must report only attendance and/or degrees from schools accredited by accredited institutions recognized by the U.S. Department of Education.
