You will serve as a AIR TRAFFIC CONTROL SPECIALIST in the RANGES OPS DIVISION, CHINA LAKE RANGES DEPARTMENT of NAVAIRWARCENWPNDIV CHINA LAKE.
Duties
You will plan, organize, and direct the overall activities within the Air Space Control Center in a professional manner meeting customer and range safety needs.
You will plan, execute, and supervise the Air Traffic Controller facility training, certification, and standardization programs.
You will establish and maintain an On-The-Job--Training program for air traffic controllers.
You will advise aircrews of flight restrictions, down radar systems, and real time changes of test resources.
You will relay messages concerning operation and control of aircraft between pilots and other air traffic facilities.
Requirements

- You will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination.
- Air traffic control specialists must possess the facility ratings required at the facility where the position is located. You will be required to maintain a valid Air Traffic Control Specialist and/or Control Tower Operator Certificate.
- Within the Department of Defense (DoD), the appointment of retired military members within 180 days immediately following retirement date to a civilian position is subject to the provisions of 5 United States Code 3326.
- Males born after 12-31-59 must be registered for Selective Service.
- You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
- Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test (including marijuana) is required. A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if you fail to report to the drug test appointment or fail the test. You will be subject to random testing.
- This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time
Qualifications
Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the (DS-03) pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate some or all of the following: 1) Providing air traffic control services in the terminal airspace; 2) Demonstrating experience as Military Radar Unit (MRU) Controller; 3) Conducting classroom training on Air Traffic Controller equipment and procedures; 4) Overseeing restricted areas to avoid airspace conflict in support of range flight testing; 4) Developing course material, written examinations, visual aids, and training scenarios to supplement published material; 5) Evaluating trends through the maintenance of historical averages.
