You will serve as a Section Head in the China Lake Ranges Air Operations Branch, within the China Lake Operations Division of the WD Range Department in the of NAVAIRWARCENWPNDIV CHINA LAKE.

Duties

You will will function as the focal point for coordination of flight operations, including exercises and special events for NAVAIR Pacific Ranges. You will provide quick and professional responses to management inquiries, data calls, and customer concerns. You will coordinate all airspace procedural Letters of Agreements (LOAs), Memos of Agreement (MOAs), and Memos of Understanding (MOUs) with stakeholders ensuring directives are current and meet all federal/DOD requirements. You will issue control instructions to provide separation and assure the orderly and expeditious movement of aircraft departing, landing, approaching for landing or flying within and between terminal areas You will control the movement of aircraft and vehicles on the airport's surface; Furnishing information to pilots concerning clearances to operate aircraft, weather and field conditions, and pertinent operating and procedural instructions You will relay messages concerning operation and control of aircraft between pilots and other air traffic facilities; and Notifying fire and rescue services in the event of actual or potential accident on or in the vicinity of the airport. You will hire, train, and maintain a skilled workforce by identifying current and future workforce requirements; translating organizational goals into objectives and assignments

Requirements

  • You will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination.
  • Air traffic control specialists must possess the facility ratings required at the facility where the position is located. You will be required to maintain a valid Air Traffic Control Specialist and/or Control Tower Operator Certificate.
  • Within the Department of Defense (DoD), the appointment of retired military members within 180 days immediately following retirement date to a civilian position is subject to the provisions of 5 United States Code 3326.
  • Males born after 12-31-59 must be registered for Selective Service.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test (including marijuana) is required. A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if you fail to report to the drug test appointment or fail the test. You will be subject to random testing.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level (NM-03 or equivalent pay band or grade level in the federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector Specialized experience must demonstrate some or all of the following: 1)Knowledge of R2508 Complex including R205/2524; 2) Experience as a MRU Controller; 3) Familiarity with VFR Tower procedures; 4) Experience working with Special Use Airspace (SUA), Military Operating Areas(MOAs), Restricted Airspace, and Air Traffic Control Assigned Airspace 5) negotiating Letters of Agreement with outside agencies and development of air traffic procedures;6) identifying current and future workforce requirements, including applying an understanding of areas of low participation to ensure that recruitment efforts are appropriately focused.
