This position is located within the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA), Veterans Health Administration (VHA), Mid-Atlantic Health Care Network (VISN 6), VA Medical Center Richmond, Research and Development. It is assigned to support various types of research projects, funded and/or unfunded. The incumbent will assist the principal investigator (Pl) directly in all day-to-day operations for Research & Development Committee (R&DC) approved protocols.

Duties

Major Duties: Identifying potential participants, enrolling participants, collecting research data, and providing support to the local Pl. Complete and maintain all program-related records for each participant, including consent forms, participant payment and documentation of participant payments, data management system, and source documentation worksheets. Support the Pl to complete administrative tasks pursuant to a successful clinical research program. Collect data across all data modalities found in the research protocol, including the administration of questionnaires, surveys, and administrative and decision-making along with scheduling and cost data. Input data into a number of electronic databases which might include: Microsoft Outlook, Excel, WORD, Redcap and other VA databases. Extract data to prepare reports, sort and summarize data elements and manipulate the data by performing statistical queries that are pre-programmed or are built within the Microsoft or VA software. Respond to general inquiries from program participants, staff, and other stakeholders. Independently draft correspondence and general communications regarding the program, including memorandums and reports as requested. Qualifications

To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement, 01/24/2024. You may qualify based on your experience as described below: Specialized Experience: You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade GS-06 in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Examples of specialized experience would typically include, but are not limited to: Experience in programs data collection instruments through Word, Excel, VA Redcap and other VA databases and providing testing data collection instruments for respondent ease and efficiency. Schedule and conduct participant visits while preparing and maintaining all program documentation related to enrollment, per protocol and as required by the program. Education

As a general rule, education is not creditable above GS-5 for most positions covered by this standard; however, graduate education may be credited in those few instances where the graduate education is directly related to the work of the position.
