This position is located Southwestern Region, Region 3. This position is located in the Forest Service at the Supervisor's Office level of the organization and is responsible for managing the Forest's Infrastructure database and for providing support in GIS; acquisitions including requisitioning and micro-purchasing; and engineering program business operations.
Duties
Responsible for the organization, maintenance, and consistency of data for database systems, including Infra modules and geospatial layers and attributes.
Develops queries and updates, program routines, and reports to expedite processing of resource and management data.
Assists with the organization and maintenance of resource information and data to facilitate analysis involving but not limited to roads, trails, bridges, dams, recreation and administrative sites, and related infrastructure.

Qualifications

Specialized Experience Requirement:
For the GS-09: You must have one year specialized experience equivalent to the GS-07 level in the Federal service. Specialized experience is defined as three or more of the following: Participated in the development of editing/building and modifying data layers, data dictionaries, data models and metadata for multi-disciplinary information and geospatial applications; and/or Assisted a higher-level specialist with the manipulation and analysis of geospatial data linking a variety of resources; and/or Assisted higher graded employees and staff members in projects or segments of projects to become familiar with the complex administrative work of the office, including managing data of real property and infrastructure items; and/or Used ArcGIS Platform (ArcGIS Desktop, ArcGIS Server, ArcGIS Mobile, ArcGIS SDE, ArcGIS online) to inform and empower the public and decision makers.
OR
a master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.B. or J.D., if related
OR
an appropriate combination of specialized experience and education (only graduate education in excess of 18 semester hours may be used to qualify applicants for this grade level). The education must have been obtained in an accredited college or university and demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
TIME IN GRADE REQUIREMENT: If you are a current federal employee in the General Schedule (GS) pay plan and applying for a promotion opportunity, you must meet time-in-grade (TIG) requirements of 52 weeks of service at the next lower grade level in the normal line of progression for the position being filled. This requirement must be met by the closing date of this announcement.
