You will serve as a Fire Extinguishing Systems Worker/Mechanic in the Public Works Department of NAVFAC NORTHWEST.
Salary Range:
WG-07: $30.54 to $35.63
WG-08: $32.28 to $37.66
Duties
You will interpret construction plans and prints to perform maintenance and repair on water systems.
You will work from blueprints, plans, sketches, or other specifications to locate plumbing equipment (e.g., water closets, sinks, fire sprinkler equipment).
You will use welding and soldering tools to join pipes.
You will cut route openings to install and modify piping systems.
You will identify potential safety or health hazards and problems associated with the plumbing or piping job being planned and estimated.
You will help install, overhaul, repair, fabricate, and/or modify fire sprinkler systems.
You will perform preventative maintenance on fire sprinkler systems.
Requirements

- You will be required to obtain and maintain a current valid United States driver’s license.

- You will be required to complete training, obtain, and maintain a government credit card for travel and travel-related purchases.
- This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
- You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.
- Work is performed in areas where potentially harmful physical and chemical agents are present (e.g. fumes, dust, heat, ionizing and non-ionizing radiation and chemicals). You will be required to participate in medical surveillance programs.
- This is a Mission Essential position. You will be required to ensure organization or facility continuity of operations and/or completion of tasks that are considered essential to the mission designated by a local or command decision.
- This position is considered Key/Emergency-Essential. You will be required to provide immediate and continuing support to ensure the success of combat operations or the availability of combat-essential systems.
- The full promotion potential grade level WG-10 will require you to obtain and maintain a current NICET Level II certification which will require training to be completed within prescribed timeframe.

For WG-09_ The Screen-out Element for this position is: 1) Assisting with installations, overhauls, repairs, fabrications, and/or modifies fire sprinkler systems components, and /or subassemblies; 2) Assisting with facility plumbing on potable, non-potable, and waste water plumbing systems; and 3) Assisting higher grade level fire sprinkler systems mechanics.
