You will serve as a FIRE EXTINGUISHING SYSTEMS MECHANIC in the Washington at a Public Works Department (PWD) Production Division of NAVFAC NORTHWEST.

Duties

You will interpret construction plans and prints to perform maintenance and repair on water systems. You will work from blueprints, plans, sketches, or other specifications to locate plumbing equipment (e.g., water closets, sinks, fire sprinkler equipment). You will use welding and soldering tools to join pipes. You will cut route openings to install and modify piping systems. You will identify potential safety or health hazards and problems associated with the plumbing or piping job being planned and estimated.

Requirements

  • Must be determined suitable for federal employment.
  • Must participate in the direct deposit pay program.

  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
  • This position performs functions that are necessary to ensure the continued operations at all times.
  • Must be able to successfully complete the following training within prescribed timeframe: NICET CPD Points as required to maintain certification.
  • This is a Mission Essential position. You will be required to ensure organization or facility continuity of operations and/or completion of tasks that are considered essential to the mission designated by a local or command decision.

The Screen-out Element for this position is: I have the ability to lead/supervise others who perform common tasks in including 1) Performing routine jar tests to determine the best method of treatment, 2) Using blueprints and works from rough sketches or verbal orders to complete tasks and 3) Determining tools needed to perform work on plumbing systems and fixtures.
