About the Position: The incumbent will serve as an executive-level Administrative Assistant to the Office of the Director, Military Surface Deployment and Distribution Command Transportation Engineering Agency (SDDCTEA) and the Joint Distribution Process Analysis Center (JDPAC).
Duties
Serve as an advisor, assistant, and consultant to the Office of the Director on executive and general administrative matters pertinent to the operations, activities, and mission requirements.
Interact with high ranking individuals, senior leadership, and executives in the public and private sector to include the Department of Defense, the Joint Staff, the Department of Transportation, and academia.
Serve as an authoritative expert on clerical work processes of the office to identify, analyze, and recommends solutions.
Observe and review the overall quality and efficiency of the day-to-day administrative processes of and established procedures in order to restructure administrative workflow patterns
Manage and develop plans and coordinates all travel plans and arrangements.
Prepare material representing a variety of formats; including correspondence, staff studies, technical papers, charts and tables.
Communicate orally and exercise sound interpersonal relations in order to provide advice and guidance to staff action officers and articulate unique program requirements
Utilize the Defense Travel System (DTS) to prepare and execute trip itineraries, arrange travel schedules and funding requirements, and make necessary travel reservations.

- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment.
- This position requires a typing proficiency of at least 40 words per minute (WPM) based on a 5 minute sample with 3 or fewer errors.

In order to qualify, you must meet the education and/or experience requirements described below. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes: (1) Performing routine clerical and general administrative duties in a federal office setting; (2) Providing advice and/or guidance to senior leaders and/or executives on a wide variety of technical and administrative issues; (3) Developing and/or maintaining multiple short- and long-range calendars; (4) Preparing and/or reviewing correspondence for proper format, spelling, grammar, sentence structure and content; (5) Utilizing travel systems to manage and prepare travel arrangements and itineraries for senior leadership; and (6) Utilizing modern office automation systems to prepare letters, memoranda, and reports. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-07).

Education: Master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as: Business Administration or Human Resource Management.
OR
Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the first year (total graduate semester hours minus 18) by 18. Add the two percentages.
Typing Proficiency Required: This position requires a typing proficiency of at least 40 words per minute (WPM) based on a 5 minute sample with 3 or fewer errors.
