Duties
If selected for this position, you will join a well-respected team that is responsible for Administrative Support. Typical work assignments will include:
Perform routine technical support for all areas of the administrative division to include human resources, financial management, procurement, and information technology
Assist employees and supervisors in completing routine paperwork
Input information into automated systems
Provide general information to employees and supervisors on administrative services related topics
Respond to inquiries on a variety of Administrative Services related topics
Overseeing property and equipment inventories
Provide administrative and office automation support
Preparing a variety of reports and other documents, including maintenance of databases, spreadsheets, and tracking logs
Preparing travel requests, make reservations, and prepare travel vouchers for office staff,
Maintenance of office records
Receives telephone calls and visitors to the office.
Receives, reviews, and distributes incoming mail
Responsibilities will increase and assignments will become more complex as your training and experience progress.
Requirements
- You must be a U.S. Citizen or National.
- Initial appointment is conditioned upon a satisfactory pre-employment adjudication. This includes fingerprint, credit and tax checks, and drug testing. Continued employment is subject to a favorable adjudication of a background investigation.
- You must be registered for Selective Service, if applicable.
- If selected, you may be required to complete a one year probationary period.
- Time-in-Grade: Federal employees must meet time-in-grade requirements within 30 days after the closing date of this announcement.
- You must meet all qualification requirements within 30 days after the closing date of this announcement and before placement in the position.
Qualifications
GS-07: To be eligible at the GS-7 level, you must meet at least ONE of the following conditions, as defined below: Specialized Experience, Education, OR a combination of Education and Experience.
Specialized Experience: One full year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-5 level.
Specialized experience is defined as experience performing the following types of duties: drafting written documents utilizing various office automation software; customer service travel coordination; receiving and distributing mail; providing administrative support functions in one or more of the following areas: human resources, ordering office supplies and equipment; disposal of inventories, managing and filing documentation, providing guidance on office procedures such as travel and; experience serving as receptionist such as taking phone calls and managing visitors to the office.
OR
Education: Successful completion of one (1) full year of progressively higher level graduate education (18 semester hours or the number of units your school uses to describe one graduate year of academic study) in related field (e.g., Business, Accounting) leading to a master's degree ORa completed bachelor's degree with superior academic achievement.
Superior academic achievement is as follows: standing in the upper third of your graduating class or major subdivision OR membership in one of the national scholastic honor Societies; OR Grade Point Average. Applicants must have a grade point average of: (a) 3.0 or higher out of a possible 4.0 ("B" or better) as recorded on their official transcript, or as computed based on 4 years of education, or as computed based on courses completed during the final 2 years of the curriculum; or (b) 3.5 or higher out of a possible 4.0 ("B+" or better) based on the average of the required courses completed in the major field or the required courses in the major field completed during the final 2 years of the curriculum.
OR
Combining Education and Experience: Combination of successfully completed graduate education and specialized experience may be used to meet total qualification requirements. To calculate, first identify the percentage of required graduate education you have earned. Then identify the percentage of required experience you possess. Add the two percentages. The total percentage must equal at least 100 percent to qualify
GS-9: To be eligible at the GS-9 level, you must meet at least ONE of the following conditions, as defined below: Specialized Experience, Education, OR a combination of Education and Experience.
Specialized Experience: One full year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-7 level.
Specialized experience is defined as experience monitoring or controlling the budget; analyzing technology in relation to support service needs; and providing administrative support services in areas such as space management, purchasing supplies and equipment, security, mail, records, reproduction services, office automation, information management, and communications hardware and software.
OR
Education: One of the following types of education in a related field (e.g., Business, Accounting, etc.): a Master's or equivalent graduate degree (such as an LL.B or J.D., if related.); OR 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree. Education at the graduate level must be in an accredited college or university and must demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to perform the duties of the position.
OR
Combining Education and Experience: Combinations of successfully completed graduate education and experience may be used to meet total qualification requirements. In order to qualify based on a combination, graduate education must be in excess of 1 full year.
Education
All academic degrees and coursework must be completed at a college or university that has obtained accreditation or pre-accreditation status from an accrediting body recognized by the U.S. Department of Education. For a list of schools that meet this criteria, see

Education completed in foreign colleges or universities may be used to meet the above education requirements if you can show that the foreign education is comparable to that received in an accredited educational institution in the United States.
