This position is part of the National Archives and Records Administration. Serves as an Audio, Video, and Motion Picture Equipment Maintenance Specialist in the Moving Image and Sound Preservation Branch (RXM), Preservation Programs Division (RX), Office of Research Services (R) of the National Archives and Records Administration. The position reports to the RXM Director.
Duties
As an Equipment Specialist, you will:
- Be responsible for maintaining the equipment used by the Audio-Video and Motion Picture preservation laboratories to preserve and duplicate those media.
- Resolve complex and unusual problems associated with the design, procurement, maintenance, modification, calibration, and repair of electronic equipment and instruments.
- Collaborate with manufacturers, engineers, resource management officials, and technical representatives concerning the availability, development, and status of integrated products and technical information for use in preparing documentation, maintenance support plans, training and publications requirements, equipment accessories, and equipment parts and modifications.
- Handle and report on quality control issues related to both individual pieces of equipment and to systems requiring special management emphasis because of their unusual operational importance or criticality to an equipment system.
Qualifications
You must meet the following requirements by the closing date of this announcement.
Specialized Experience: For the GS-12, you must have one year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-11 grade level in the Federal service. Specialized experience is described as working with the repair, maintenance and support of professional moving image and sound playback and capture equipment. Examples of qualifying specialized experience include:
Repairing and maintaining audiovisual equipment.
Reviewing and applying technical specifications and requirements.
Analyzing equipment and forecasting spare parts requirements.
Reading and interpreting engineering change orders, equipment requisitions, shop orders, and work orders.
Analyzing contract specifications and examining pertinent equipment to determine if specifications are met.
Analyzing or leading maintenance, repair, or production operations to determine methods of improvement.
Developing, installing, inspecting or revising equipment maintenance programs and techniques.
