Duties
The functions listed below are a general summary of CRNA practice and are not intended to be inclusive or exhaustive. Recognizing that anesthesia cannot be administered by standardized procedures, CRNAs are responsible for assessing their individual clinical capabilities and for determining and providing competent anesthesia services within their scope of practice. CRNAs practice in collaboration with other health care professionals to achieve individual and common goals for care and to assure patients' safety and welfare. While their primary responsibility is to the patient, CRNAs recognize the interdependency of all members on the health care team and accept their responsibility to each member of the team based on identified roles and responsibilities.
CRNAs administer anesthesia and anesthesia-related services at the JBVAMC in four general categories: A. Pre-anesthesia preparation and evaluation.
B. Anesthesia induction maintenance and emergence.
C. Post-anesthesia care.
D. Peri-anesthetic and clinical support functions.
