The incumbent works in Cardiology section. The HT will assist the charge nurse, supervisor, MITs, and RNs with other duties as assigned. Supports medical and health care professionals in tests and procedures to diagnose and treat medical conditions. Performs technical work in support of diagnostic tests and procedures. Supports health and medical staff during diagnosis or treatment of patients. Operates and maintains medical instruments and equipment for diagnostic and treatment procedures.
Duties
Duties may include but are limited to :
Patient Care Includes:
- Receiving/interpreting requests for procedures
- Securing Patients' Confidence/Cooperation
- Responding to emergency situations
- Setting Up Equipment, Determining Technical Factors, and Setting Controls
- Operating Equipment and Assisting Medical Staff with or Performing Diagnostic Procedures
- Performing Diagnostic Tests and Procedures
- Positioning Patients for Procedures
- Receiving and Directing Patients
- Performing personal patient care
- Teaching Patients Proper Health Care Practices
- Performing Health Care Procedures
- Completion of tasks designated by policies/procedures/protocols and/or assigned by supervisor
Administrative Duties:
- Performing routine clerical procedures for the purpose of maintaining accurate records
- Handling Clerical/Administrative Support & Coordination Requirements
- Maintaining Patient Records
- Determining the nature of inquiries and independently responds to all administrative questions
- Maintaining Control Records and Documents Test Results
- Demonstrating professional behavior

You may qualify based on your experience as described below:
Grade Determination: One year of specialized experience that equipped you with the knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of this position, and that is typically in or related to the position. To be creditable, specialized experience must have been equivalent to at least the GS-05 grade level in Federal service. Specialized experience includes: Skill in operating commonly used medical equipment and using computer programs (i.e. Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc), Ability to perform EKG testing, Skill in operation and use of specialized equipment and materials, and Ability to monitor the patient's continuous ECG and Blood Pressure during specific stress test and adjust the protocols as required.
This experience must be detailed in your resume to receive credit.

Physical Requirements: The work required is generally sedentary in nature, but also includes standing, bending, and carrying light or medium loads of paper, office files, supplies, and equipment. Standing, moving and walking are also required when teaching or illustrating a procedure or process.
