You will serve as an IT Specialist (Systems Administration) of COMNAVREG MIDLANT NORFOLK.
Duties
You will advise system users on troubleshooting application software problems.
You will brief information technology (IT) users on operation of application and support software systems.
You will resolve software failures by revising applications of software operating capabilities.
You will analyze hardware integration into information systems to develop test or evaluation procedures.

Qualifications
Have one year of information technology related experience in the federal service or private or public sector demonstrating the following four competencies, as defined: 1. Attention to Detail - Is thorough when performing work and conscientious about attending to detail. IT-related experience demonstrating this competency include: reviewing, following, and in many cases, developing, highly technical specifications and instructions and identifies processes that require documentation, ensures that processes are documented, and that team members understand and follow established procedures. 2. Customer Service - Works with clients and customers (that is, any individuals who use or receive the services or products that your work unit produces, including the general public, individuals who work in the agency, other agencies, or organizations outside the Government) to assess their needs, provide information or assistance, resolve their problems, or satisfy their expectations; knows about available products and services; is committed to providing quality products and services. IT-related experience demonstrating this competency include: providing functional support for users of various systems. 3. Oral Communication - Expresses information (for example, ideas or facts) to individuals or groups effectively, taking into account the audience and nature of the information (for example, technical, sensitive, controversial); makes clear and convincing oral presentations; listens to others, attends to nonverbal cues, and responds appropriately. IT-related experience demonstrating this competency include: providing technical guidance. 4. Problem Solving - Identifies problems; determines accuracy and relevance of information; uses sound judgment to generate and evaluate alternatives, and to make recommendations. IT-related experience demonstrating this competency include: providing recommendations for enhancement of IT network systems. In addition to my experience demonstrating the four competencies above, I have one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level (GS-09) or pay band in the federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector: 1) Manages computer equipment, systems and telecommunications equipment essential to the Regional Dispatch Center (RDC); (2) Troubleshoot complex problems and provide support to minimize equipment interruptions in emergency services; (3) Performs system administration duties, configuration, and mapping requirements related to IT and telecommunications equipment within the Dispatch Center; (4) Analyze and resolve problems for the Computer Aided Dispatch (CAD) system.

Education
Have successfully completed a Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree from an accredited or pre-accredited institution in computer science, engineering, information science, information systems management, mathematics, operations research, statistics, or technology management. OR
Have successfully completed 3 full years (54 hours) of progressively higher graduate level education leading to a Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree from an accredited or pre-accredited institution in computer science, engineering, information science, information systems management, mathematics, operations research, statistics, or technology management; or, graduate education that provided a minimum of 24 semester hours in one or more of the fields identified above and required the development or adaptation of applications, systems or networks
