You will serve as a PUBLIC AFFAIRS SPECIALIST in the U.S. Naval Observatory of NAVOBSERV.
Duties
You will plan, coordinate and execute, according to established plans and policies, the public programs and projects of U.S. Naval Observatory.
You will disseminate information relating to U.S. Naval Observatory programs, objectives and mission.
You will plan and coordinate an educational outreach program to a broader public via the A7 World Wide Web and formulate new and innovative ways to reach the public.
You will identify the issues affecting various audiences; match the most effective communication technique with those audiences; and develop effective
strategies for transmitting that information.
Requirements
- Must be a US Citizen.
- Must be determined suitable for federal employment.
- Must participate in the direct deposit pay program.

Qualifications
Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following:
Experience in planning, coordinating, and executing, according to established plans and policies, public programs, and projects.
Experience planning, developing, writing, and releasing information to appropriate news and media through newspapers, radio, television, and wire service.
Experience arranging for photographic services, or taking the necessary photographs for sponsored events, official visits, and special events.
Experience in graphic arts, using computer programs to design presentations, posters, displays and other visual materials necessary for effective representations of command briefings.
