This position is located within the Clinton Service Unit Business Office under the supervision of the Supervisory Health System Specialist. The work assignments include a full range of technical billing functions such as coding and abstracting claims, timely submission or transmission to third party stakeholders, and initiate follow-up to inquiries in order to control billings claims.
Duties
Provide technical research to coding, abstracting, and billing functions.
Review and process third party claims for timely submission or transmission of billing inquiries.
Respond to patient problems regarding claims and billing claims.
Qualifications
To qualify for this position, your resume must state sufficient experience and/or education, to perform the duties of the specific position for which you are applying.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer and part time experience. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
GS-05: Applicant(s) must meet one of the following minimum requirements to meet the GS-05 level:
Your resume must demonstrate at least one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-04 grade level in the Federal service obtained in either the private or public sector performing the following type of work and/or tasks: working with patient registrations data system and patient related data management computer systems to select accurate descriptive billing codes, recognize discrepancies, coordinate with departments for accurate guidelines and compliance for billing, review billing forms and review for accuracy, submit itemized correspondence in timeline billing and processing; OR
Four (4) years of education above the high school level; OR
Combination of education and experience that when combined fully meet qualifications for this position. Only education in excess of the first 60 semester hours is creditable toward meeting the specialized experience requirement.
GS-06: Applicant(s) must meet the following minimum requirements to meet the GS-06 level:
Your resume must demonstrate at least one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-04 grade level in the Federal service obtained in either the private or public sector performing the following type of work and/or tasks: use and interpretation of ICD-10 coding information to analyze and compile data, verify claims for allowable cost, review medical documentation for discrepancies, complete required billing forms, initiate billing error corrections or suspended claims as appropriate.
Typing Proficiency: The typing proficiency requires applicants to type 40 words per minute based on a five-minute sample with three or fewer errors.
Time In Grade
Federal employees in the competitive service are also subject to the Time-In-Grade Requirements: Merit Promotion (status) candidates must have completed one year of service at the next lower grade level. Time-In-Grade provisions do not apply under the Excepted Service Examining Plan (ESEP).
