This position is part of the Plant Operations located in Washington, District of Columbia.

Duties

Directing a crew to obtain press supplies and other materials that are needed to complete job and instructs crew throughout individual jobs. Operating a PC and PC based program to retrieve and generate production data. Reading press statement and job jacket to determine status and specifications of the job to be printed. Examining plates for obvious defects (e.g, scratches, dents, missing images). Making constant inspections of work and press throughout the press run. Notifing a supervisor when supplies or press parts are needed.

Requirements

  • U.S. Citizenship is Required.
  • Selectee must successfully complete all Pre-Employment Requirements prior to appointment.
  • Males born after 12/03/59 must be registered for Selective Service.
  • Selectee may be required to serve a one year probationary period.
  • Selectee must be able to obtain and maintain Non Sensitive- Low Risk security clearance.
  • Physical Effort: Duties require prolonged standing, walking, stoopingbending, stretching, reaching above the shoulder, and climbing. Moderate amount of hand, wrist, and arm movement.
  • Physical Effort: Lifting is required of objects weighing up to 150 pounds and selectee is required to hand good eye-hand coordination, proficient vision and be able to discern colors.
  • Working Conditions: Perform work in a press production environment with exposure to moving mechanical parts, noise, inmist, odors, fmes, spray powder and paper dust. Ear protection, face masks and safety shoes are required to be worn,
  • Working Conditions: Work is performed indoors with no exposure to excessive heat or cold.

Qualifications

To qualify for the position, you must meet the following requirements: Applicants must meet the following Screen-Out element: to be considered for this position, Incumbent must possess the following:JOB ELEMENT 1: Ability To Do The Work Of Head Offset Pressperson(4 Color + Coater) Without More Than Normal Supervision. These duties for the Head Offset Pressperson(4 Color + Coater) include :knowledge of how to set up, operate, adjust an all sheet fed and envelope/specialty two color, four, six and eight color presses. Applicants must have experience and/or training of sufficient scope and quality to independently perform the duties typically required of this position. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. All qualification requirements must be met by the closing date of this announcement to be considered.
