About the Position: Serves as Human Resources Assistant (Military) performing a variety of duties for different human resource military personnel programs and systems at the U.S. Army Medical Center of Excellence located at Fort Sam Houston, San Antonio, Texas. U.S. Army Medical Center of Excellence is located in beautiful and historic San Antonio and is within easy commuting distance of desirable neighborhoods and excellent school systems.

Duties

Manipulate military Human Resources (HR) systems such as the Electronic Military Personnel Office (EMILPO) to process military HR actions. Monitor all promotion selection lists to advise to ensure that all selectees/non selectees are properly informed of their status. Prepare and maintain Human Resources records, monitor suspense's, evaluations line of duty and survivor assistance. Initiate and prepare various orders that include amendments, revocations, and endorsements, permanent change of duty assignments, reassignments, promotions, and separations from actions within military service.

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes: Analyzing Military Human Resources requirements, objectives, and practices to advise lower grade personnel on assigned actions; applying a standardized body of Military Human Resources rules and regulations, policies, and operations to perform a full-range of assignments; utilizing Military Human Resources reference materials, regulations, and manuals to interpret, modify and apply available guidelines for adaptation to specific problems; experience using Human Resources automated systems dedicated to the management of Soldiers and their Families to input and retrieve data. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-05). Some positions allow education as a substitute for experience. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted.
