You will serve as a INDUSTRIAL HYGIENE TECHNICIAN in the DON Bureau Medicine and Surgery (BUMED)of NMRTC PENSACOLA FL.
This announcement uses the Expansion of Direct Hire Authority Personnel of the Department of Defense to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to certain positions in the competitive service.
Duties
You will plan, coordinates, and conducts industrial hygiene sampling surveys to collect exposure monitoring data to assess work practices and environmental conditions.
You will assist head, IHPO during highly sensitive or complex health investigations and provides technical assistance and support.
You will follow Industrial Hygiene and related safety and environmental concepts, principles, and practices relating to a wide range of duties concerned with evaluating and measuring occupational health hazards in a variety of settings.
Requirements
- This position is eligible for part time, substantial or ad-hoc telework at the discretion of management.
- This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.

- Must be determined suitable for federal employment.

Qualifications
GS-07: Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-06 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following:
Performs field measurements using Industrial Hygiene sampling equipment;
Documents workplace conditions and any apparent violations of occupational safety and health standards seen while sampling;
Records all measurements/sampling data to establish a historical record of occupational exposure;
Maintains equipment calibration, preventive maintenance and repairs; ensuring operational readiness.
GS-06: Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-05 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following:
Assist in completing sampling evaluations of work operations involving potentially hazardous environmental conditions;
Gathers data on site for laboratory analysis;
Follows specific methods and techniques provided by the Industrial Hygienist.

SUCCESSFUL completion of one full year of graduate level education OR you have successfully completed a bachelor's degree with superior academic achievement.
FOR
GS-06:
SUCCESSFUL completion of six months of graduate level education OR you have successfully completed a bachelor's degree with superior academic achievement.
