You will serve as a INDUSTRIAL HYGINIEST TECHNICIAN in the Bureau Medicine and Surgery of NMRTC PENSACOLA FL. This announcement uses the Expansion of Direct Hire Authority for Certain Personnel to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to certain positions in the competitive service.

Duties

You will plan, coordinate and conduct complete sampling evaluations of work operation involving potentially hazardous environmental conditions, and provides written documentation of work. You will establish contacts, mechanisms, and procedures to coordinate and obtain the required monitoring. You will research sampling methods when dealing with new materials or processes. You will manage equipment calibration, preventive maintenance and repair programs within the IHPO You will enter exposure monitoring date into automated data systems/software applications.

Qualifications

In order to qualify for this position, your resume must provide sufficient experience and/or education, knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the duties of the specific position for which you are being considered. GS-08: Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-07 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Entering exposure monitoring date into automated data systems/software applications, (e.g., Defense Occupational and Environmental Health Readiness System (DOEHRS)), or equivalent industrial hygiene exposure data monitoring system, MS Office Suite software (e.g., Word, Excel, and/or Access) or other IHD databases; Performing field measurements using IH sampling equipment; Using complex IH instrumentation, gathering and analyzing data - communicate finding to the cognizant IH; AND Conducting and documenting sampling surveys that involve a broad variety of industrial-type operations including complex research and development/healthcare activities. GS-09: Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-08 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Researching sampling strategies and providing occupational safety and health training to activity personnel/employees; Providing technical consultation and equipment training and coordinate various programs such as workplace monitoring, equipment maintenance and calibration, inventorying, replenishing, etc…; Planning, coordinating, and conducting industrial hygiene sampling surveys to collect exposure monitoring data to assess work practices and environmental conditions; Writing calibration procedures, establishing maintenance/repair formats, maintaining sampling and equipment databases, analyzing equipment use, service life - compiling and maintaining equipment performance record for consideration towards future purchases and audits; AND Preparing instructional outlines and technical instruction to IH professional, technicians and workplace monitors on the use of new and technically advance IH equipment.
