Serves as an Occupational Safety and Health Specialist in the FAA Logistics Center.

Duties

Performs multiple, varying, and complex assignments under the minimal direction of a manager, project/program manager, team leader, or more experienced professional. The incumbent is responsible for developing planning, administering, evaluating, and controlling a comprehensive Safety and Occupational Health Program for the FAA Logistics Center. The incumbent is responsible for the implementation of FAA/MMAC OSH initiatives mandated by the Occupational Safety and Health Act, Executive Order 12196, and Title 29 USC Part 1960 (safety and Health Provisions). The work requires independent judgment in the application of the principles, practices and techniques of various safety and health standards such as Occupational Safety and Health Act, American National Standards Institute, National Fire Protection Association, and the Building Operators and Contractors Association Codes and Basic National Building Codes. May serve as a project manager or team leader for large projects and for conducting program studies/evaluations concerning workplace safety.

Qualifications

To qualify for this position at the FV-I (FG/GS-13) level, you must demonstrate in your application that you possess at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to FV-H (FG/GS-12) level. Specialized experience is experience that has equipped you with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position and that is typically in or related to the position to be filled.Specialized Experience: includes experience implementing an occupational safety and health management system at a complex multi-functional campus; developing, implementing, maintaining, and managing an injury and illness prevention program at a large facility with diverse industrial and business operations; inspecting or surveying workplaces, processes, or other systems for compliance to safety and occupational health policies/standards and to identify potential hazards.In addition to the Minimum Qualifications, the following has been determined to be a Quality Ranking Factor for this position. This means well qualified candidates will have demonstrated the following:Quality Ranking Factor (QRF): Well qualified candidates will possess (1) Experience with the implementation and management of a comprehensive EOSH program and associated hazards at a complex industrial facility (i.e., Industrial Hygiene Experience, Collecting/Interpreting/Reporting hazards information, and other Safety Program experience such as fall protection, lock out-tag out, noise, ergonomics, etc.); and (2) Possession of Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or Associate Safety Professional (ASP) certification.ANDPhysical Requirements: You must be able to perform efficiently the essential functions of the position without hazard to yourself or others. Selectee must pass a pre-employment physical prior to appointment.Applicants should include examples of Specialized Experience in their work history.
