About the Position: The incumbent will serve as Testing Clerk in the San Juan, Puerto Rico Military Entrance Processing Station (MEPS) with responsibility for conducting aptitude and qualification examinations at the MEPS and Military Entrance Test (MET) sites for the applicants of various Armed Forces Services.
Duties
Operate a variety of office automation equipment including personal computers, facsimile machines, scanners, digital copiers, Personal Digital Assistants (PDA), and Industrial shredders.
Participate in required training activities.
Brief applicants, distribute and proctor examinations, score exams, and perform quality control of examination and applicable applicant information.
Answer inquiries from recruiters, liaisons, applicants, school representatives, other Military Entrance Processing Station (MEPS), Sector, and Headquarters Military Entrance Processing Command.
Conduct aptitude and qualification examinations at the MEPS and Military Entrance Test (MET) sites for the applicants of the various Armed Services.
Ensure total security and accountability of all accountable test material when conducting test sessions.
Assist in the conduct of test material inventories as required and ensure strict accountability and security of all testing materials.
Send results to appropriate personnel and perform data entry of results into automated data systems.
Perform manual searches of high school Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery (ASVAB) scores in files, and when found place the results in applicant records.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- The duties of this position require the incumbent to possess or obtain and maintain a valid Driver's License to operate vehicles.
- This position has a requirement to lift up to 40 pounds in the regular performance of duties.
- This position may require frequent local travel and occasional Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel which may require lodging for multiple nights to meet mission requirements.
- This position requires the incumbent to handle accountable test material.
- This position requires the incumbent to conduct test sessions at remote sites, to include administration of high school tests at inner city, rural, and/or at-risk schools with large populations (greater than 100 students).
- This position requires the incumbent to cross-train in other functions of the Military Entrance Processing Station and to perform these functions as required.
- This position requires occasional early mornings, evening, and weekend work where the incumbent will be the only employee in the building.
- Appointment to this position is subject to a one year probationary period unless the appointee has previously met the requirements as described in 5 CFR Part 315.

In order to qualify, you must meet the education and/or experience requirements described below. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes 1) Maintaining and/or distributing testing materials; 2) Implementing policies and/or procedures for administering examinations; 3) Performing data entry of results and/or information into a system; and 4) Performing quality control of examination and/or applicant information. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-04).

Education: Four years of education above the high school level obtained in an accredited business, secretarial or technical school, junior college, college or university.

Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide your semester hours of education beyond two years (total semester hours minus 60) by 60. Add the two percentages.
