Duties

***THIS IS NOT A VIRTUAL POSITION, YOU MUST LIVE WITHIN OR BE WILLING TO RELOCATE WITHIN A COMMUTABLE DISTANCE OF THE DUTY LOCATION*** The major duties include but are not limited to: Develops and monitors resources and making recommendations to the service regarding needs, distribution, or redistribution of these resources; Serves as the budget and financial advisor for the Chief or designee; Develops, formulates and provides all essential data for the annual budget forecast; Tracks all expenditures and comparing with budgeted, projected and on-hand inventories; Maintains budget control records and assures funds are used in accordance with the operating budget; Advises on the status and availability of funds; Processes all vouchers with the appropriate office and carrying out any needed follow-up; Establishes and maintains a procurement system for expendable supplies and equipment; Reviews and submits the appropriate forms for the funding of purchase orders; Maintains various reports and using designated ledgers to account for cost accounting operations; Performs all other duties as assigned. Qualifications

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: GS 6 - Possess at least one (1) full year of specialized experience that equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities (KSA's) to perform successfully the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the position to be filled. To be creditable, experience must have been equivalent the GS-05 grade level in the Federal service. Specialized experience includes administering and maintaining budgets from various fund sources; works with purchasing requests; entering and tracking budgetary transactions into a computerized budgeting system; performing clerical duties in support of finance or accounting operations; and preparing correspondence and reports. NOTE: Applicants wishing to receive credit for such experience must indicate clearly the nature of their duties and responsibilities in each position and the number of hours a week spent in such employment. You will be rated on the following Competencies as part of the assessment questionnaire for this position: Budget AdministrationClericalControl of FundsCost Accounting IMPORTANT: A full year of work is considered to be 35-40 hours of work per week. All experience listed on your resume must include the month and year start/end dates. Part-time experience will be credited on the basis of time actually spent in appropriate activities. Applicants wishing to receive credit for such experience must indicate clearly the nature of their duties and responsibilities in each position and the number of hours a week spent in such employment. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Physical Requirements/Working Conditions: The work is primarily sedentary but occasionally requires the carrying of light objects such as files, books and papers. Work involves bending, stooping, standing, walking, carrying less than 15 pounds and using a computer terminal. Work is performed in an adequately climate-controlled office setting.
