Duties

Ideally candidates should have a strong background in professional engineering principles and working in teams, specifically in test and evaluation methods and techniques. Experience with Air Force nuclear certified aircraft and weapon systems, or experience with military aircraft systems and conventional weapons integration is desired. Furthermore, the candidate will assess the impact of emerging technology on current systems and processes to formulate recommendations and solutions. DUTIES: Lead a multidiscipline team in evaluating Air Force aircraft or other weapons delivery platforms for nuclear compatibility certification. Analyze systems and assess test results and other evidence for compliance with interface agreements and other standards to make certification recommendations to AFNWC certifying officials. Assess new designs and modifications to Air Force systems from impacts to nuclear compatibility certification. Formulate certification task requirements. Coordinate certification efforts with external agencies including Air Force System Program Offices (SPO), Air Force Major Command offices, and the National Nuclear Surety Administration. Plan and conduct Aircraft Monitor and Control (AMAC) testing. Develop test plans and test procedures, lead on aircraft or system integration lab tests. Author test plans and reports. Lead test planning working groups and test readiness reviews. Assess evidence and results across multiple engineering disciplines including systems engineering technical reviews, software assessments, simulations, and modeling.

Requirements

  • Telework may be authorized.
  • Must obtain and maintain a TOP SECRET clearance.
  • Required to handle and safeguard sensitive and classified information in accordance with regulations to reduce potential compromise; employee must obtain and maintain the appropriate security clearance.
  • Locations are not negotiable. The actual duty locations available may be located on the Air Force Civilian Service website.
  • This is a drug testing designated position and is subject to random drug testing.
  • Employee must meet Defense Acquisition Workforce Improvement Act (DAWIA) requirements, which includes achieving Engineering and Technical Management “Practitioner” certification category within required timeframe after appointment.
  • In accordance with the Ethics in Government Act, 1978, employee may be required to file an OGE Form 450, Confidential Financial Disclosure Report, upon appointment and will be required to file annually

  • This position may require travel.
  • May be required to work extended or other than normal duty hours, to include evenings, weekends and may be subject to recall.
  • Incumbent may be required to report to work during base exercises, contingencies, or emergency situations. Overtime/comp time/credit hours may be required to accomplish assigned duties.
  • This position will be coded under the Acquisition Professional Development Program (APDP), Engineering and Technical Management Practitioner Level certification.
  • The position requires the employee to engage in acquisition continuous learning activities achieving 80 continuous learning points (CLPs) every 24 months.
  • The selectee must meet, or be capable of achieving the APDP certification as designated on the position description within the defined grace period for that certification level after assignment.

Knowledge of development engineering methodologies sufficient to apply experimental theories and/or new applications to issues and provide technical advice and direction in support of weapon systems, subsystems, and/or support equipment. Knowledge of systems engineering practices and procedures as they pertain to sustainment, modification, logistics, and production management principles, concepts, policies, and systems. Knowledge of the principles of planning and program management; of standard acquisition regulations, practices, and procedures; and of other engineering disciplines used in support of sustainment, modification, and maintenance programs. Ability to devise and evaluate criteria, parameters, characteristics, and interrelationships for design approaches; to assess the impact of new technology on current systems and processes; and to gather, assemble, and analyze facts, form conclusions, and devise and recommend solutions to problems.
