This is a National Guard Title 5 Excepted position for AIRMAN AND FAMILY READINESS SPECIALIST, Position Description Number T5302P01 , and is part of the 169 FSS, South Carolina Air National Guard.

Duties

***This is a Title 5 National Guard Employee position description. **This position is in the Excepted Service "under the authority of Title V, P.L. 114-328, Sections 932 and 1084 (FY17 NDAA)" This position is located in the Force Support Squadron, Mission Support Group, of an Air National Guard (ANG) Wing. The purpose of the position is to serve as the family readiness and support services representative at an ANG Wing and coordinate concurrently with the Force Support Squadron Commander/Human Resources Officer (Director of Personnel (DP)) at each wing, Joint Force Headquarters - State (JFHQ-ST) Family Program Director, NGB Family Programs Office, and US Air Force/Major Command (MAJCOM) Family Readiness Directors. The incumbent analyzes current family support offered through the Office of Secretary of Defense (OSD), Service and State programs, identifies shortfalls, and develops, manages, and monitors programs in support of Wing Families. Additionally, incumbent provides guidance to the Wing leadership in the development and implementation of a family readiness and support program and provides family readiness assistance at the geographically separated unit(s) (GSU).

Qualifications

THIS IS A NATIONAL GUARD TITLE 5 EXCEPTED SERVICE POSITION.This position is in the Excepted Service "under the authority of Title V, P.L. 114-328, Sections 932 and 1084 (FY17 NDAA)", and is open to US citizens interested in helping the Department of the Army meet our mission requirements. Area of Consideration: This position is open to Area 1. Area 1: Current employees (Tenure 1 and 2 / internal to the Agency) Area 2: All other applicants (external to the Agency). GENERAL EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: Administrative or clerical experience, education, or training which demonstrates the candidate's ability to perform the duties of the position. Experience using computer and automation systems. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: Must have at least 12 months experience in the interpretation and application of regulations, procedures or laws. Experience that provided a working knowledge of administrative functions. Experience demonstrating the ability to advise lower graded employees. Experience working independently and setting priorities with very little supervisory control.

Education

Substitution of Education for specialized experience - Completion of 2 academic years of education in an accredited college or university will satisfy the requirements for GS-4 positions. Only education in excess of the first 60 semester hours (i.e., beyond the second year) is creditable toward meeting the specialized experience requirement. One full academic year of study (30 semester hours) beyond the second year is equivalent to 6 months of specialized experience for GS-5 positions.
