Qualifications
We are looking for at least one year of specialized experience related to this position as described below:
To qualify for the GS-12 level, you need to have at least one year of full-time experience equivalent to the GS-11 level defined as preparing a variety of written communication materials and collaborating with internal and/or external parties to develop communications strategies.
To qualify for the GS-13 level, you need to have at least one year of full-time experience equivalent to the GS-12 level defined as reviewing a variety of written communication materials for quality and collaborating with internal and/or external parties to develop communication strategies related to environmental programs.
Your answers to the online assessment will be used to evaluate your competencies in the following areas: 1) Knowledge of external communication channels; 2) Skill in developing and editing a variety of written communication materials; 3) Ability to interpret science and policy documents and develop communication materials about them; 4) Skill in written communication sufficient to explain chemical safety and pollution prevention program efforts; 5) Skill in collaborating with others to meet program needs; 6) Ability to analyze media to determine effectiveness of efforts; 7) Ability to evaluate media content to determine areas of improvement; 8) Ability to develop content for digital media.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional, philanthropic, religious, spiritual, community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
