About the Position: This position is with the US Military Entrance Processing Command, Nashville Military Entrance Processing Station (MEPS), in Nashville, TN.
Duties
Greet visitors and applicants to the MEPS.
Distribute workload among employees.
Provide technical guidance and training.
Question applicants to obtain and/or verify complete data required for final data processing of forms and records for entry into military service.
Operate a keyboard to record and transcribe alpha numeric data.
Obtain fingerprints using automated systems.
Prepare travel orders and reviews accounting data for accuracy.
Administer pre-oath briefings, and briefs applicants concerning MEPS procedures.
Requirements
- Employee may be required to work an occasional Saturday and/or shift work (work before 0600 or after 1800 hours).
- Employees may be required to work unscheduled overtime to accommodate fluctuations in workload based on the daily mission requirements.
- Successful completion of applicable Military Health System (MHS) GENESIS Training.
- This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment.
- This position has been designated "Mission Essential".
- Appointment to this position is subject to a one year probationary period unless the appointee has previously met the requirements as described in 5 CFR Part 315.
- This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of 25% of the time.

In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience.
Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes: 1) Reviewing applicant documents for accuracy; 2) Verifying document information with applicants through verbal and written communication; 3) Assembling and distributing applicant record packets; and 4) Maintaining personnel records. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-05).
Typing Proficiency: In addition to meeting the above qualifications, applicants will need to self-certify their typing proficiency. A qualified typist can type 40 words per minute based on a 5 minute sample with three or fewer errors.

Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-05).
