Duties

Plans, organizes, and oversees the activities of the Division. Develops goals and objectives that integrate organizational and functional area objectives. Plans work to be accomplished by the staff and ensures that work is completed in accordance with established priorities. Evaluates subordinate supervisors and serves as the reviewing official on evaluations of nonsupervisory employees rated by subordinate supervisors. Makes decisions on work problems presented by subordinate supervisors. Establishes metric and analysis systems for the Division to assess efficiency.

Requirements

  • Successful completion of one year probationary period, unless previously served.
  • Subject to one year supervisory/managerial probationary period unless prior service is creditable. New USDA supervisors must successfully complete all components of the required training program before the end of their probationary period.

Qualifications

Applicants must meet all qualifications and eligibility requirements by the closing date of the announcement including time-in-grade restrictions, specialized experience and/or education, as defined below. Time in grade: Applicants must possess one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level; or its non-Federal equivalent that demonstrates: For the GS-15: Applicants must have 1 year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-14; or its non-Federal equivalent that demonstrates: Knowledge of laws, practices and principles related to business trends/advances in real estate and commercial lending principles, practices, market and values, credit risk factors, and lending principles for guaranteed and direct loan programs; develops and implements operating plans; supervisory experience managing a geographically dispersed staff, and experience conducting program reviews of field office administration of business loan programs; oral presentation skills and experience explaining program specifics to large audiences; experience in drafting and editing position papers, regulations and technical assistance directives. NOTE: To be considered for this position, you must meet all qualification and eligibility requirements for the GS-1101 series set forth in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards by the closing date of the announcement.
