You will serve as a Maintenance Worker in the Production Division, Facility Sustainment Branch of NAV FACILITIES ENGINEERING COMMAND SE.

Duties

You will operate a variety of hand and power tools such as hammers, hand saws, drills, planes, routers, screw drivers, power nailers and fasteners, glue guns metal shears, screw guns, power saws and power sanders and planes. You will need skills to sand, wire brush, scrape, spackle, and putty surfaces. You will determine nature of maintenance or repairs needed. You will follow specific instructions and is aided through the use of templates, or preplanned, or precut materials. You will accomplish work at the painter worker level to include standard coating methods such as brushing, rolling, and spraying, by the use of coating materials that are prepared according to specific directions.

Requirements

  • Must be determined suitable for federal employment.

  • You will be required to obtain and maintain a current valid United States driver’s license.

  • You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station.
  • You will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination.

This job has a screen-out element which will be used to determine minimum eligibility for this job. Applicants who do not receive a minimum of two points on the screen-out element(s) will be found ineligible. The Screen-out Element for this position is: Ability to do the Work of the Positions without more than Normal Supervision. 1) Prepares and paints wood, metal, concrete, and masonry surfaces of interior, exterior, and components of buildings; 2) Matches colors and mixes pigments according to instructions; 3) Prepares surfaces and applies paints of various types such as enamels, varnish, stains by use of brush roller, spray gun, or other painting equipment.
