About the Position:
This position is located at Fort Campbell, Tennessee. The primary focus of the Medical Insurance Technician is the accurate billing and collection of other health insurance revenue, utilizing software programs as necessary for third party, other health insurance, billing and reconciliation. Revenue collected is returned to the Command to enhance patient care.

Duties
Perform medical billing and claim management for the organization.
Review insurance payments and correspondence following up with status or corrections of claims.
Verify insurance coverage, amount of coverage, existing rules and regulations pertaining to the patients policy.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- This position has mandatory seasonal influenza vaccination requirements and is subject to annual seasonal influenza vaccinations unless otherwise exempted for medical or religious reasons (documentation of exemption must be provided upon hire).
- Temporary duty travel (TDY) of 5 % may be required.
- This position has been designated Weather Essential. In the event of inclement weather conditions, the incumbent is required to report to work or remain at work as scheduled to support mission operations.
- This is a DOD Financial Management position. The incumbent must complete training and meet position requirements for certification at Level 1 within 2 years of appointment. Failure to obtain and maintain certification may result in adverse action.
- Incumbent may be required to perform call duties; work overtime to include weekends and federal holidays, out of cycle, or unscheduled training or on an emergency basis, evenings/nights; rotating shifts, extended hours or other schedules.

In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience reviewing patient medical bills for discrepancies such as demographics or insurance coverage; verifying patient's health insurance coverage telephonically and/or through online insurance databases; and managing account receivables for patient accounts for a medical facility. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-05).
Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted.
