About the Position: This position is located at Fort Novosel, Alabama, home of the United States Army Aviation Center of Excellence. Fort Novosel is located in the "Wiregrass" area in Southeast Alabama, surrounded by Enterprise, Ozark and Daleville. The geography and climate are ideal for year round military training.
Duties
Provide clerical work supporting military personnel programs, including personnel manning, Military Occupational Specialty/Medical Retention Board and reclassification, Military Personnel Systems, student management, transition services and casualty.
Utilize personal computers and software to include basic automated operations and functions related to military personnel operations.
Provide counseling and information to spouse of Army retirees, active duty and of terminally ill military personnel regarding benefits to which they may be entitled.
Maintain, update, and initiate actions pertaining to military personnel processing and services.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- The duties of this position require the incumbent to possess or obtain and maintain a valid state Driver's License in one of the 50 U.S. states or possessions to operate vehicles.
- Appointment to this position is subject to a background investigation to determine your suitability for Federal employment.
- May require travel using military or commercial aircraft or vehicle.
- Overtime may be required.
- Emergency overtime may be required.
- May be required to be on-call after duty hours.
- Positions may require performance of duties on the HURCON Evacuation Team or Mass Casualty Team.
- Performance of these duties shall require employee availability 24 hours a day 7 days per week.
Qualifications

In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Specialized experience GS-05 level: One year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-04 grade level in the Federal service which includes following human resources regulations, policies, and procedures to perform assignment; initiating actions relating to personnel processing; maintaining personnel automated systems to enter and retrieve information.

Education: Four years of education above the high school level obtained in an accredited business, secretarial or technical school, junior college, college or university.
OR
Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide your semester hours of education beyond two years (total semester hours minus 60) by 60. Add the two percentages.
Proficiency Required: This position requires a qualified typist. A qualified typist can type 40 words per minute based on a 5 minute sample with three or fewer errors.
Education
FOREIGN EDUCATION: If you are using education completed in foreign colleges or universities to meet the qualification requirements, you must show the education credentials have been evaluated by a private organization that specializes in interpretation of foreign education programs and such education has been deemed equivalent to that gained in an accredited U.S. education program; or full credit has been given for the courses at a U.S. accredited college or university.
