This National Guard position is for a HOUSING MANAGEMENT ASSISTANT, Position Description Number D0603/D0604 and is part of the Montana Army National Guard, GTC. (A copy of the Position Description can be obtained from HRO upon request.)

Duties
This position is located in the Logistics Division of a Category A,B,C,D,G Army National Guard Major Training Area (MTA). The incumbent is responsible for managing a warehouse operation and the billeting of a variety of temporary quarters to include barracks, BOQs, BEQs, and VIP housing as well as other troop buildings in the cantonment area (e.g., administrative buildings, mess halls, and dining facilities). The work may require supervision of warehouse workers, clerks, laborers, custodians, and maids.
Assigns troop buildings, furnishings, and equipment in the cantonment area in consideration of such factors as size of units, troop numbers, type of unit, serviceability and availability of building space and desire to maintain unit integrity while effecting maximum utilization of space.
Schedules pre-occupancy and termination inspections. Supervises the issue and turn-in of buildings to include the conduct of joint tenant-management inspections for the purpose of providing tenant directives and instructions. Evaluating the cleanliness, maintenance, and habitability of quarters and verifying inventory of furnishings and equipment issued.
Manages a warehousing operation responsible for receiving, storing and issuing furnishings and equipment, equipping troop buildings in the cantonment area, maintaining an adequate amount of furnishings and equipment to fulfill supply demands and maintaining inventory of property accounted for by the housing division.
Assigns work and reviews the results of work performed. Interviews personnel and makes selections or recommendations. Ensures that all training needs are met and that required cross-training is accomplished. Establishes performance standards and completes or reviews employee performance of all subordinates. Determines overall leave schedule and is responsible for accountability of all personnel assigned. Initiates personnel actions to fill, reassign, promote, change job structure, etc. Counsels employees, adjusts informal complaints and grievances through discussion with employee and union representatives and initiates disciplinary actions as needed. Ensures that employees observe regulations and rules on housekeeping, conduct and safety.
Coordinates the operation, maintenance, and utilization of troop buildings with other organizations in the graining site. Assure efficient and timely housing services, maintenance, alteration, minor construction, painting, and repairs.
Directs the billeting program for VIP housing and bachelor and transient-type quarters. Oversees issuance of certificates of non-availability and the collection and records maintenance of costs of laundering linen, maid service, and other services directly connected with the operation of bachelor accommodations.

- This is an excepted service position that requires membership in the employing state's National Guard, required prior to the effective date of placement.
- Selectee will be required to wear the military uniform.

Qualifications
Military Grades: E3 - CW2
GENERAL EXPERIENCE:
Must be able to communicate effectively orally and in writing.
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE GS-07:
Must have 12 months of appropriate specialized experience that is equivalent to GS-05 conducting inspections, completing inventories, and managing supplies. Must have experience organizing work. Must have the ability to ensure taskings are completed to standard. Experience in following Standard Operation Procedures.
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE GS-08:
Must have 12 months of appropriate specialized experience that is equivalent to GS-07 in managing a program, conducting inspections, completing inventories, and managing supplies. Must have experience assigning and organizing work. Must have the ability to ensure taskings are completed to standard. Experience in following and updating Standard Operation Procedures.
