This position is located in the Office of Science Policy and Communications (OSPC), Communications Branch (CB), National Institute on Drug Abuse (NIDA), at the National Institutes of Health (NIH). You will serve as a Supervisory Public Affairs Specialist for content management staff. As such, you will plan and manage public information programs and activities related to content management by providing day-to-day operations management, communications skills, and other technical expertise.

Duties

Participate with Communications Director (or other senior leaders including OSPC Director) in developing, reviewing, and/or evaluating NIDA's content management plan, publications development plan, web content guidelines, and the public affairs program. Participate with the supervisor in developing the planning and execution of information activities of the NIDA. Oversees staff activities for the preparation of planning documents related to health communication. Serve as first line editor for written work developed by content management staff, as well as vetting of visual content. May serve as Contracting Officer Representative and/or supervises other COR staff for NIDA services contracts. Supervise a staff of federal employees, including three GS-1083-13 science writer/editors whose main focus is on content management and development.

Requirements

  • U.S. Citizenship requirement or proof of being a U.S. National must be met by closing date.

  • Males born after December 31, 1959 must be registered with the Selective Service.

Qualifications

You qualify at the GS-14 level, if you meet one of the following qualification requirements:You must demonstrate in your resume at least one (1) year of qualifying experience equivalent to at least the GS-13 level in the Federal service obtained in either the private or public sector, performing the following types of tasks: Planning and evaluating content management activities through electronic outreach, national and local media, and health education campaigns to ensure cohesiveness; Interpreting guidelines on clearances, Scientific reporting and materials planning; Editing written work developed by content management staff and vetting of visual content; Participating in the review of content management plans, publications development plans, web content guidelines, and public affairs programs.
