You will serve as a IT Specialist (INFOSEC/CUSTSPT) of NAVWPNSTA.

Duties

You will present systems analysis observations to senior leaders to make recommendations. You will administer security services to detect unauthorized access to information systems. You will maintain information technology (IT) configuration control for network infrastructure to ensure agency wide compatibility.

  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • This position is designated as a Cyber IT/Cybersecurity Workforce position. You must obtain and maintain the credentials as described in SECNAV M-5239.2 for specialty area
  • Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test (including marijuana) is required. A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if you fail to report to the drug test appointment or fail the test. You will be subject to random testing.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.

Qualifications

Have one year of information technology related experience in the federal service or private or public sector demonstrating the following four competencies, as defined: 1.Attention to Detail - Is thorough when performing work and conscientious about attending to detail. IT-related experience demonstrating this competency include: creating user accounts for security access.2.Customer Service - Works with clients and customers (that is, any individuals who use or receive the services or products that your work unit produces, including the general public, individuals who work in the agency, other agencies, or organizations outside the Government) to assess their needs, provide information or assistance, resolve their problems, or satisfy their expectations; knows about available products and services; is committed to providing quality products and services. IT-related experience demonstrating this competency include: responding to end-user inquiries and computer related IT questions.3.Oral Communication - Expresses information (for example, ideas or facts) to individuals or groups effectively, taking into account the audience and nature of the information (for example, technical, sensitive, controversial); makes clear and convincing oral presentations; listens to others, attends to nonverbal cues, and responds appropriately. IT-related experience demonstrating this competency include: working with end-users to diagnose and repair computer system issues.4.Problem Solving - Identifies problems; determines accuracy and relevance of information; uses sound judgment to generate and evaluate alternatives, and to make recommendations. IT-related experience demonstrating this competency include: diagnosing system/network issues to find a resolution. In addition to my experience demonstrating the four competencies above, I have one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level (GS-09) or pay band in the federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector: Ensuring proper inventory and/or destruction of all COMSEC materials; Conducting training in the use and operation of the different types of COMSEC equipment, fill devices, and key loading; Ensuring prompt and accurate preparation, signature, and submission of account correspondence, messages, and/or accounting reports per regulations; Providing government oversight of NMCI contracts for the installation; monitoring and/or evaluating COMSEC equipment compliance with IT Security requirements; Ensuring COMSEC systems reliability and/or accessibility to prevent and defend against unauthorized access; Evaluating and/or implementing IT security procedures to ensure proper protection of COMSEC equipment and materials. Education

Have successfully completed a Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree from an accredited or pre-accredited institution in computer science, engineering, information science, information systems management, mathematics, operations research, statistics, or technology management OR

Have successfully completed 3 full years (54 hours) of progressively higher graduate level education leading to a Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree from an accredited or pre-accredited institution in computer science, engineering, information science, information systems management, mathematics, operations research, statistics, or technology management; or, graduate education that provided a minimum of 24 semester hours in one or more of the fields identified above and required the development or adaptation of applications, systems or networks OR

Have a combination of graduate-level education and specialized experience.
