About the Position: Serves as Paralegal Specialist for the Office of the Staff Judge Advocate, Administrative Law Division with responsibility for legal research and analysis of a wide variety of Administrative Law issues.

Duties

Conduct research on laws, legal articles and regulations. Provides legal support to the Chief, Administrative Law, Staff Judge Advocate, Senior Attorney Advisor/Deputy Staff Judge Advocate and Labor Counselor. Determines adequacy of subpoenas and wage assignments orders and prepares written responses when Privacy Act concerns have not been met. Reviews Freedom of Information Act FOIA, requests and provides legal recommendation to the FOIA Officer for release of documents. Responsible for communicating with and assisting victims and witnesses on legal matters. Manages communication between trial counsel and victims and witnesses regarding case status. Provides backup on notifying filers of the requirement, responding to questions from filers and reviewing completed reports prior to the Ethics Counselor's review and coordinating mandatory annual ethics training.

OR Education: Ph.D or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.M. in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as: paralegal studies or legal studies. OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the second year (total graduate semester hours minus 36) by 18. Add the two percentages.
