This position is located at the VA Illiana Health Care System (VAIHCS) in Danville, IL. The primary purpose of this position is to function as the Outreach Coordinator performing a variety of duties in a fast-paced environment. This position supports the organization's goals through the ideation, planning, coordination, and evaluation of Veteran outreach programs and initiatives. This position serves as the expert in outreach for VAIHCS.
Duties
Works collaboratively with the public affairs and production teams to ensure outreach efforts supports the strategic goals of the organization or service line.
Works independently to coordinate staff, communication materials, and logistics for community outreach events and facilitate the scheduling of outreach events.
Responsible for developing and updating the health care system's outreach plan including analyzing data from a variety of sources to determine the program success and make recommendations to improve or increase future outreach efforts.
Draft written materials that transmit information concerning the nature and purpose of the various Veteran outreach activities and programs, activities, operations, and projects to the general public.
Gather information post-event and reports on effectiveness of outreach efforts and identifies the areas for improvement.
Maintains the inventory for the outreach program by labeling, categorizing, and organizing materials to ensure items can be found, packed, and shipped as necessary.
Attend team meetings with the intent to proactively identify opportunities for the integration outreach efforts into the organization's strategic communication efforts.
Works collaboratively with staff across the health care system to ensure outreach events have the adequate supplies to include promotional literature, and any necessary tool to equipment (tables, chairs, multiplugs, etc.).
Promotion Potential: The selectee may be promoted to the full performance level without further competition when all regulatory, qualification, and performance requirements are met. Selection at a lower grade level does not guarantee promotion to the full performance level.

Qualifications
To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement, 01/12/2024.
Time-In-Grade Requirement: Applicants who are current Federal employees and have held a GS grade any time in the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements by the closing date of this announcement. For a GS-07 position you must have served 52 weeks at the GS-05. For a GS-09 position, you must have served 52 weeks at the GS-07. The grade may have been in any occupation, but must have been held in the Federal service. An SF-50 that shows your time-in-grade eligibility must be submitted with your application materials. If the most recent SF-50 has an effective date within the past year, it may not clearly demonstrate you possess one-year time-in-grade, as required by the announcement. In this instance, you must provide an additional SF-50 that clearly demonstrates one-year time-in-grade. GS-07 To meet the minimum qualification for this position at the GS-07 grade level, you must meet the following:
Must have one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade GS-05 in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. To be creditable, this experience must have been equivalent to at least the GS-05 level in Federal service. Specialized experience related to this position includes assisting in the planning and coordinating of outreach programs; assisting in improving informational materials; assisting in gathering and reporting feedback from completed events; assist in coordinating communication materials and logistics for an event; and assist in maintaining inventory for events to include labeling, categorizing, and organizing materials.

Have successfullycompleted 1 full year of graduate level education or superior academic achievement that demonstrates the knowledge, skills and abilities necessary to do the work of this position. NOTE, Transcriptsmust be submitted with application. Education cannot be credited without documentation OR,
Possess equivalent combinations of successfully completed graduate level education (in excess of the first year or 18 semester hours) and specialized experience to meet total experience requirements. NOTE: If using education combined with specialized experience to qualify, a copy of your transcript is required.
GS-09 To meet the minimum qualifications for this position at the GS-09 grade level, you must meet one of following:
Applicants must have one (1) full year of specialized experience that equipped you with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties at the GS-09 level. To be creditable, this experience must have been equivalent to at least the GS-07 level in Federal service. Specialized experience related to this position includes planning and coordinating of outreach programs; improving informational materials; gathering and reporting feedback from completed events; coordinating communication materials and logistics for an event; and maintaining inventory for events to include labeling, categorizing and organizing materials.

Have successfully completed a master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.B. of J.D., if related that demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of this position. Physical Requirements: The work includes standing, walking, bending, stooping, lifting, twisting, occasionally carrying up to 50 pounds and sitting at a computer for extended periods of time. Flexibility is required to accommodate events and activities occurring in other than normal duty hours. Mobility is required in terms of staging and assisting staff with equipment and other required materials.
Work Environment: The work environment involves normal everyday risks discomforts of an office setting. The work area is lighted, temperature controlled and ventilated. Coordination and participation in meetings, and other community relation's activities require presence in a variety of in-house and off-station areas and facilities. The incumbent has access to fax, copier, and computer equipment.
