Duties
The United States Space Force (USSF) Space Operations Command (SpOC) at Peterson Space Force Base is searching for a Regional Wideband Technical Manager (NH-0391-03).
Description:
Supports the United States Space Command mission to deliver satellite communications (SATCOM) to United States Combatant Commands, Military Services, Agencies, and more than eight international partner nations. This position serves as the focal point for operational and technical issues for assigned Wideband SATCOM satellites. Provides resource allocation planning support for SATCOM. Applies broad technical knowledge of transmissions systems and operations, to include knowledge and ability to manually compute satellite link configurations and operating parameters (e.g., azimuth and elevation angles, uplink power values). Develops and conducts optimization activities affecting more than ten satellites globally.
Formulates operational policy, procedures, and guidance, and provides direction and supervision to the Wideband SATCOM Community. Responds to problems or questions involving implementation of SATCOM guidelines at all levels. Develops and presents briefings to Commanders, SATCOM managers, planners, controllers, operators, and users on system operations, procedures, and status. Serves as a primary point of contact to provide staff oversight for operational issues concerning activities ranging from military training and humanitarian efforts to war and conflict.
The ideal candidate will possess experience in Satellite Communications allocation/provisioning; transmissions control/troubleshooting, and satellite payload control. Candidate possesses an education strong/heavy in math (e.g. trigonometry, linear algebra, calculus), computer science (coding) is a plus. Experience with the common network planning software (CNPS) and other satellite control subsystems is highly desired.
Key Skills and Abilities:
1. Expert technical knowledge of satellite payload management, network management, and telecommunications systems.
2. Expert knowledge of policies, plans, objectives, requirements, and capabilities of SATCOM systems.
3. Experience in conducting studies involving both long-range and short-range plans involving the control aspect of satellite communications.
4. Skill in performing trend analyses for SATCOM terminals and satellite segments to determine technical supportability.
5. Ability to analyze technical work of satellite payloads and ground station architectures.
6. Ability to develop and maintain effective relationships and to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, including writing plans and technical documents, requirements, procedures, and technical analyses.
7. Ability to organize work, set priorities, and determine resource requirements; determine goals and strategies to achieve them; coordinate with other organizations; monitor progress, and evaluate outcomes.
8. Ability to identify problems and use sound judgment and decisions to generate and evaluate alternatives and make recommendations.

- Employee must be able to obtain and maintain a Top Secret w/SCI clearance.
- Locations are not negotiable. The actual duty locations available may be located on the Air Force Civilian Service website.
- This position is designated as a Testing Designated Position (TDP) under the Air Force Civilian Drug Testing Program.
